Most pool builder websites do not lose leads because they look bad. They lose them because a homeowner who is ready to take a next step cannot find one. Here are seven problems worth checking on your own site.
1. The only next step is a contact form
A form asks the homeowner to commit before they have learned anything. Many close the tab instead. Give them something they can do first, such as designing a pool, seeing example pricing or looking at finished projects with details. See contact forms vs instant estimates.
2. It is slow or awkward on a phone
Many homeowners look at pools on their phone, often in the backyard they are thinking about. If the page loads slowly, text is tiny or buttons are hard to tap, they leave. Open your site on your own phone and try to request a quote with one thumb.
3. No tap-to-call number
Your phone number should sit in the header and stay easy to reach on mobile. A number that is not tappable is a number someone has to copy and paste.
4. Photos with no context
A gallery of beautiful pools helps, but a homeowner wants to know what a project like that involved. Add the size, the features and the general scope next to each photo.
5. Pricing is a complete mystery
You do not need to post a price list. But a homeowner with no idea whether a pool is $40,000 or $140,000 will often move on rather than ask. Even a clear explanation of what moves the price helps. Our guide on what affects the cost of a pool is a good starting point.
6. Reviews and proof are buried
Put reviews, licensing information and years in business where a homeowner will see them before they decide to contact you, not on a page nobody visits.
7. Nobody answers quickly
A fast website means little if a lead waits two days for a reply. Decide who follows up, how fast, and what they say. Our post on following up on a pool lead covers a simple process.
A five-minute self-check
- Can a visitor do something useful in under a minute without filling out a form?
- Does your phone number appear without scrolling, and can they tap it?
- Does every project photo have a sentence of detail?
- Can a homeowner find out roughly what a pool costs, and why?
- Do you reply to every lead the same day?
